Miss Universe Crowned: Miss Japan Riyo Mori is the new Miss Universe. Miss USA Rachel Smith came in fifth but her trip, fall and recovery was deserving of a crown of grace.

Nicaragua placed in the top 10 for the first time in history, after having a Top 15 placement in 1977. Korea's placement was the first since 1988.
Tanzania and Slovenia got their first placements in Miss Universe history.
Mori, 20, is the second of Japanese heritage to be crowned Miss Universe in 48 years. The first Miss Universe winner from Japan was Akiko Kojima in 1959.
Even though the crowd booed her after her fall, Miss USA '07 Rachel Smith won the spanish crowd over after speaking in their own language in one segment.
Miss Japan may be Miss Universe but Miss USA Rachel Smith's stumble and recovery might be the most endearing moment of pageant.
